Gridio has officially partnered with Volkswagen Group Info Services AG, paving the way for seamless and official API based smart charging for Volkswagen, Audi, Škoda, SEAT, and CUPRA electric vehicles.

We’re excited to announce a major new partnership that marks another big step toward smarter, cleaner charging for all EV drivers in Europe.

Gridio has officially partnered with Volkswagen Group Info Services AG, paving the way for seamless and official API based smart charging for Volkswagen, Audi, Škoda, SEAT, and CUPRA electric vehicles.

This means that soon, drivers of these brands will be able to enjoy the full power of Gridio’s smart charging app — powered directly by official vehicle data from the Volkswagen Group.

No more reverse-engineered unofficial smart charging

Digital smart charging - automatically telling electric vehicles to charg energy prices are the cheapest or there is an excess of home solar, based on actual battery state - is the easiest way to shave up to 50% your charging bill.

Until now, most of these solutions for VW Group cars (including in the early days of Gridio) have been reverse-engineered. This means smart charging providers mimic the vehicle apps to receive car data and send commands. Mostly it works, but sometimes it does not - as the car companies never intended their apps to be used in such a way. Data could get out-of-date, commands fail and when the apps were updated, smart charging could break until the new updates were taken int account.

How this integrations helps VW Group drivers

With Gridio soon using the official VW Group data integration, smart charging will become more reliable, secure and seamless. There are four reasons why:

  1. Smart charging will become more reliable, thanks to our data polling and commands which are executed via official VW Group channels, taking into account each vehicle's capabilities.
  2. The data connection of EV drivers is more secure, providing EV drivers the ability to set up, enable and disable Gridio's data access through the vehicle of VW group portals.
  3. Official technical support. Gridio as an established partner can access VW group technical teams, should any issues arise and solve them more efficiently
  4. Trustworthy smart charging, as your Audi, VW, Skoda, Seat and Cupra car is optimizeded officially as the car-maker intended, limiting concerns about warranty and battery impacts.

In summary, this integration combines official vehicle data from Volkswagen Group Info Services with Gridio’s intelligent algorithms, giving drivers an easier, more efficient way to charge.
