Our app allows you to pair major inverter brands in a matter of seconds - so that your EV gets even better at knowing when to charge...
Inverters supported: SolarEdge, SMA, Fronius, Huawei, Ferroamp, Growatt, Kostal, Sofar, Solax, Solis, Sungrow and we're constantly adding more!
Try it now!Download the appYour EV charging tracks your solar output or exports automatically.
Supported EVs: Tesla
Your EV charges at either half power or full power, depending on your solar output or export.
Supported EVs: VW, Skoda, Cupra
Your EV charges only when your desired solar output or export threshold is met
Supported EVs: Others
The value of solar exports is often nowadays lower than the cost of your energy tariff. So making the most of your solar energy, by automatically allowing your EV to charge when its available is a big win!
In addition, if you charge with surplus solar, you save on not having to pay grid fees and likely higher prices for energy later in the evening or night.
A win-win!
Coming soon! Gridio will have all your home energy devices running smart and clean.
For now, we include solar-charging as part of our standard Gridio subscription. This means you get the first 14 days for free and then pay the standard amount.

Green energy transition is a matter of pride and responsibility. So is data security.
We use a combination of encryption, multi-factor authentication and careful data policies to ensure your data remains safe.
Around a half of EV drivers have their own solar panels at home. Gridio's solar charging magically connects to both your EV and solar inverter, without any need for a hardware setup and enables you to enjoy your EV automatically charging if you have sufficient solar available.
With solar booming, nowadays when you export your solar energy, you get paid very little or nothing, or even charged by negative prices.
Charging your EV when your solar runs 'hot' is a perfect way to maximise your solar self-consumption. On the one hand you do not export low-value solar and in addition you have to buy less or no additional energy later to get your car charged.
As a bonus - when you solar charge, you also do not have to pay grid fees later when you would have otherwise charged your car at night.
We currently support the following inverters: SolarEdge, SMA, Fronius, Huawei, Ferroamp, Growatt, Kostal, Sofar, Solax, Solis, Sungrow and we're constantly adding more!
Should your inverter not be on the list, then be sure to drop a message to support@gridio.io and we will do our best to add it soon!
After you've paired your EV and inverter in the app, Gridio prioritises charging during solar hours over regular smart charging.
For most brands, Gridio modulates the EV power to match the solar output or excess (see below), so when there is little sun we charge more slowly and when there's more, we power up your EV faster!
Today, only Tesla supports perfect modulation, so for other brands we ask you to tell us, how much solar you like to see produced / exported before we kick-start your EV charging - to ensure, we do not trigger too many grid imports when they are not necessary.
If you inverter is connected to your smart meter, we will optimize based on your actual export data. So when you turn on your oven, then we also charge your EV more slowly if not enough solar is available.
If your inverter is not connected to your smart-meter, have no fear! We ask you to enter your typical home load (1-2kW), so we manually estimate your excess solar availability.
All you need to do is in the Gridio app, pair your EV (if you've not already done so) and the from Connections also add your solar inverter. Answer the simple set up questions, and you can be solar charging in minutes!
