We’re excited to announce that Gridio has entered an official partnership with Kia Connect, expanding our portfolio of car company integrations and strengthening the foundation for future smart energy services.
Through this collaboration, Gridio gains access to Kia electric vehicle and battery data via official, secure, manufacturer-approved interfaces. This marks another important step in our mission to build scalable EV energy solutions for utilities and energy companies across Europe, based on direct cooperation with car brands and automakers.
While Kia vehicles do not yet support remote smart charging control via commercial fleet APIs, access to high-quality, real-time vehicle data is a critical prerequisite for doing smart charging properly. By working directly with car manufacturers (OEMs), Gridio ensures that integrations are:
• compliant with manufacturer systems
• designed for long-term scalability
• built without workarounds or unofficial access methods
This approach allows us to prepare our platform for future capabilities as OEMs enable them – without compromising reliability or trust.

As part of this partnership, Gridio will leverage advanced data-sharing technologies that reduce unnecessary communication with vehicles.
Compared to traditional polling-based approaches, this means:
• lower load on vehicle systems
• reduced impact on the car’s battery
• a more efficient and future-proof integration model
These architectural choices are especially important for energy companies planning to scale EV services across thousands of vehicles.
The new Kia integration will initially be rolled out to customers with supported wallbox configurations. We look forward to continuing our collaboration with Kia Connect and expanding availability to a broader customer base during the remainder of 2026.
With every official car manufacturer partnership, Gridio strengthens its role as a trusted platform connecting electric vehicles, energy markets, and utilities – ready to activate advanced smart charging features as soon as vehicles support them.
